Our weekend of LUV...

This weekend was lazy and delightful for the Skaggs-Ellek Entourage. On both mornings, we slept in with the the little one and let her take her a.m. nap in bed with us. Gizmo joined in and we all had sweet dreams.

We actually made it to the gym on Saturday mid-morning, then we came home to lounge around while I made us a big breakfast with eggs, potatoes, toast and (turkey) bacon. At 2:30, we went to itsy bitsy yoga and as usual Greta enjoyed the entire experience. She loves seeing the other babies and tries her hardest to tell them so. At the first class we attended weeks ago, Derek was the only "Dad" present but he didn't mind one bit. Now, most of the other Dads attend. We have deducted that all of the Mom's went home after the first class and requested Daddy's attendance. In any case, everyone has a jolly ol' time and we have gotten to know some of the other couples who seem to share our more laid-back parenting style.

That night, we had an early romantique dinner at Caribbean Breeze. They had a scrumptious fixed-price menu that made us ponder our choices for days in advance. It was odd that when we mentioned that Greta was coming to V-Day dinner with us to others, they seemed a little stunned - like why take an infant out on Vday!? I naturally assumed that Greta was coming too since she is our BIG LOVE.... As usual, she was nice enough to sleep thru practically the entire dinner so Daddy and me had some quality chat time. Have any others taken little ones on their romantic dinners or are we in the minority?

On Sunday we bjorn'd it to Shirlington to get brunch and do some grocery shopping. If you have ever seen the hill we live on, you know that was a workout in itself. Later we took Greta over to Derek's friend, Bergit. Her sweet 17 year-old daughter, Sophia, babysat Greta while we took a couples yoga/massage class at Pure Prana. It was strange leaving her with others but Sophia did a terrific job and Greta was fast asleep when we picked her up. We ended the weekend with a late dinner at home of slow-cooked short ribs with steamed brocolini; we even got to watch Sideways while Greta was in dreamland upstairs. This was without a doubt the Valentine's Day I have ever had! Here's a few pics from our weekend...

What a cute hat! Love that she goes to baby yoga. Our little Madeline is gearing up to try a class soon.
