Living with an infant is like living with an alien...

Think about it... we really have no common language with them - we may as well be speaking Greek or Vulcan...

They are little foreigners whose needs become more complex as they get older but have not yet developed effective tools of communication with the "human" parent life form..

Who would not be frustrated?

Research shows that infants are capable of communicating through signing words much earlier then they are able to speak words. By introducing a preverbal child to sign language, parents are empowering them with early communication skills, thereby reducing frustration for both parent and child.

Additionally, research shows that hearing children who learn sign language have increased vocabulary, improved spelling proficiency and reading ability, increased self-esteem and higher IQ Scores.

We are not sure if this is true but we are excited to learn new ways to communicate with our little alien.

Anyone know what the sign below means?

That picture is precious! It is frustrating at times, but Alex has learned some sign language and it does make it a bit easier to understand his needs and wants (or don't wants).
