Got milk?

Greta doesn't. Not yet.

Funny how a year ago we had no clue that it was suggested to wait a year before giving babies cow's milk - let's add this to the list of things people forget to tell new parents...
In any case, we are tooling with the idea of introducing milk to her this weekend - she's 11 months old today.
Why?

We have been promising her cake and ice cream for the first time on her birthday (really, we have) and that could be a dangerous treat if she has yet to have milk.

Our plan is to add an ounce or two to her formula when she's at home with us and gradually work it into her diet. That way her body can slowly get used to processing it. Plus her eating skills of "real food" are coming along nicely so she is having more than just Gerbers for lunch and dinner these days - so she's getting her fair share of solid nutrients.

We know some other parents who have transitioned to milk at 10 and even 8 months so we are not really feeling like we are being mavericks by starting a month early. But, as always, we appreciate the words from the wise, so if you have any advice or experience on this front, please share!
