Shhh... the baby is sleeeping!

Crying It Out.

Who has done this? Has it worked?
We are going to try it this weekend because she is just too big for the co-sleeper plus Derek has poo-poo'd the idea of the crib in our room.

I admit that I enjoy having her close to me plus it's quick and easy to calm her without having to get out of bed.

On the positive side for us, she does go down for her naps in the crib drowsy and she puts herself to sleep within a few minutes with not so much as a whimper - if her binks does not fall out.

Her usual nitetime routine goes like this:
She wakes once or twice during the night to eat (about 4 oz each) then sometimes wakes herself crying with gas or just missing her binks. We soothe her in her sleeper by rubbing her back or giving her the binks. It usually work and she drifts off into dreamland.

Questions on my mind:
When she wakes during the night - should I soothe her with the binks or a back rub or let her go and not enter the room? How long is too long to let them cry? If she is truly hungry, can I feed her? The child at close to 17 lbs is not close to wasting away anytime soon :D
Any help is much appreciated!

I wish you good luck. We have our own sleep issues so no advice from this end. We've been trying out the Baby Whisperer methods but no mastery as of yet.

Until about a month ago we would always have to swaddle Jacob to get him to sleep, but if his arms came loose he would wake up. Most recently, he has learned to sleep on his tummy and we are no longer swaddling him and its working perfectly. He may wake up at night and we will try to get him to sooth himself back asleep, but if that doesn't work, then a 4oz'er usually does the trick.
